Is faith in Christ the only way to salvation?
Cultural challenge
People today strive to be inclusive. We want everyone to be right. In fact, we believe that the only way to be wrong is to think that someone could be wrong about something.
So when it comes to religion, we say, «All roads lead to God. There is no one right way. The right belief is what works for you.» But is that really what the Bible says?
Short answer
In the book of Acts of the Holy Apostles 4:12, Peter says:
«"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved!"»
A slightly longer answer
Faith in Christ is the only way to salvation because:
- Only through faith in Christ can we be declared righteous before God (Gal. 2:16).
- Only through faith in Christ can we be reconciled to God (Rom. 5:9-11).
- Only through faith in Christ can we receive eternal life (John 3:16).
Jesus is the only mediator between God and men (1 Tim. 2:5).
True Inclusivity
While many people today find this message unacceptably exclusive, we must point them to the radical inclusivity of the Gospel.
The gospel addresses all people as sinners and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who turn from their sin and trust in Christ.
- It doesn't matter how good or bad you were.
- It doesn't matter where you come from or what your religious background is.
If you repent of your sins and trust in Christ, you will be saved.
